Inspection

We provide detailed inspection services to ensure your fire suppression system functions according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25 standards. A yearly inspection not only ensures your system is operating at optimal performance but also maintains good standing with state and local jurisdictions.

When our technician arrives for an inspection, you can expect:

  • Visual inspection: examine critical components (sprinklers and piping) for damages and obstructions
  • Performance testing: assess fire pump performance and check for signs of wear or damage.
  • Component lubrication: lubricating valves and moving parts to ensure proper system function.
  • Flow rate measurements: verify pumps and sprinklers meet standards.
  • Alarm and sprinkler activation: testing alarms and sprinklers to ensure proper activation promptly and correctly.
  • Electrical and control inspections: assure proper function of electrical system, control circuits and communication interface.
  • Valve tests: perform trip tests on dry pipe, deluge, and pre-action valves to confirm reactivity.

Steps you can take to ensure proper maintenance:

  • Monthly: check all gauges are functional.
  • Quarterly: check all control valves, water flow valves and valve alarm devices.
  • Annually: inspect pipes, fittings, hanger and seismic bracing, spare sprinklers and information signage.
  • Every 5 years: conduct an internal inspection of piping.

System Do’s:

  • Comply, at minimum, with yearly inspections.
  • Ensure control valve is and remains open at all times.
  • Perform routine evaluations for any potential upgrades.
  • Notify us immediately of any damages to the system.

System Do Not’s:

  • Do not paint over sprinklers or sprinkler covers.
  • Do not damage sprinklers. (Again, notify us immediately if any damages occur.)
  • Do not hang any objects on the sprinklers (can cause damage and false system activations).
  • Do not obstruct sprinklers.
